Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have witnessed more than 400 million tourists since 2010 and are among the worst-performing states when it comes to solid waste management.
India’s majestic Himalayas are filling-up with waste every single day from waste that is unmanaged and littered carelessly. It’s high time we all act as responsible tourists and manage our waste the right way.
Are you planning to visit Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand soon? Well, then you’ve reached the right place. Being sustainable while traveling is not just important. However, it is often confusing to pick the right practices and follow. To make the journey of sustainable travel easier for you, follow these tips:
At Waste Warriors, we believe in engaging local and travelling communities to not only learn about the waste crisis in the Himalayas but also join hands to take action for preserving the rich biodiversity of the area. From clean up drives to flash mobs, we organise a range of fun and engaging events at popular tourist destinations to spread awareness on keeping the mountains free from waste. Check out our events section.
To spread awareness on the menace of littering, we have transformed many popular tourists spaces in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with wall paintings and art installations made from waste. You can also visit our Material Recovery Facilities in Dehradun and Dharmshala and learn how we are diverting waste away from the environment and into recycling value chains.
As we continue to grow our team and expand our efforts to more locations, your donation to our corpus will give us access to unrestricted funds to support a variety of ongoing efforts that we otherwise could not support from grants. Efforts like building better organisational systems from our HR and Finance and Communications teams, to providing training & skill development for our staff.
